Which machines are supported?
Any petrol small engine: walk-behind and riding mowers, generators, pressure washers, pumps, trimmers, blowers and chainsaws. The guided diagnosis works from your engine type rather than your exact model, because a spark, fuel and compression test is the same on every four-stroke ever built. You do not need to be in a catalog to get diagnosed.
Why do some parts show a number and others don't?
Diagnosis is engine-class accurate, but a part number is not — it changes by model, by engine code, and often partway through a production run. So every part carries a confidence level. Verified means a manufacturer or authorised-dealer source backs that number for your exact engine, and we show you the source. Likely means we matched it but something is still unconfirmed, usually your serial number. Unverified means we have not checked it for your machine, and we will not name a number or link you anywhere to buy one. Coverage grows engine by engine.
How accurate is it?
The diagnostic tests are the same ones a technician runs, keyed to your engine type, and each step explains what the result rules in or out. We would rather ask you a question than guess: if your wording does not match a symptom we can genuinely guide, we say so and let you pick. Part numbers are held to a stricter standard again — see the confidence levels above. Always compare a new part against the one you remove before fitting it.
What if the fix doesn't work?
Work the tests in order before buying anything — that is what they are for. If a previously purchased guide did not help, email support@handsonfix.com within 30 days for a full refund. If the report identifies a repair beyond typical DIY work, it will say so plainly.
How do I cancel?
Existing subscribers can use Account → Manage billing to open Stripe's secure billing portal and cancel. New memberships are temporarily paused while the verified catalog and checkout price are rebuilt.
Is it safe to DIY?
Most common small-engine repairs are safe with basic care. The number-one rule: disconnect the spark plug boot before you touch a blade or cutting head, let the muffler cool, and never work on a running machine. Petrol work belongs outdoors or somewhere well ventilated. Every step carries its own safety note, and when a job is genuinely beyond typical DIY — internal engine damage, flywheel or blade-brake work, or fuel-system hazards — we say so and flag it. How much does it cost?
Right now the guided diagnosis and the full repair report are free while we grow verified parts coverage. New paid enrollment is paused, and we will publish a price only once it matches the live Stripe checkout. Some part links earn us a commission at no extra cost to you; that never changes which part we identify, and we always show channels that pay us nothing alongside those that do.
